Cancellation of Subscription Services
Learn the steps to cancelling a deceased person's iCloud subscription.

Apple Inc. introduced iCloud, a cloud storage and cloud computing service, on October 12, 2011. The program had an estimated 850 million subscribers as of 2018, up from 782 million in 2016.

There is no simple or automated method to remove an Apple ID, particularly Apple iCloud, on the company's website. You have to contact Apple Support and explain who you are and your relationship with the deceased.

After contacting Apple, a representative will give you instructions on what documents to submit and how to submit said documents to them. They should also be able to tell you how you can be granted access and download data from the account should you want to.

These are the requirements that the Apple Customer Service may ask of you:

  • Death certificate of your loved one
  • Apple ID Email and Password

Apple may also ask for additional documents or information to prove your relationship with the account owner and is authorized to cancel the subscription.
