Cancelling the Deceased's Subscription to Google One

Google One is a subscription-based cloud storage service. Follow these steps to cancel a deceased loved one's subscription.

Google One, formerly Paid Google Drive Storage, is a cloud storage service offered by Google that has been available since 2018.


When you delete a Google account, it affects all linked services, including Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive, Google Plus, and the Google Play Store.


You can contact Google’s customer service through this link. On this webpage, you’ll be given the option to deactivate your deceased loved one’s account. Be sure to have the following details in order to fill up the given form:

  • Full name of the deceased person 
  • Email address of the deceased person 
  • Full name of relative/legal representative 
  • Email address of relative/legal representative 
  • Your relationship to the deceased person 
  • Country 
  • Zipcode 
  • Date of death 

You must also specify that you are requesting about Google or YouTube on the form. They will also ask for the following:

  • A scanned copy of your government-issued ID or driver's license
  • A scanned copy of the decedent's death certificate
  • Scanned copies of any additional documents we may need to better understand your case
  • Additional comments or instructions

In some instances, the deceased person may have set up an Inactive Account Manager which can help you gain access to their backup files. Users can share certain sections of their account data and inform a Trusted Contact about their account details. Google will notify you through email if this has been set up by the user.
